Functions of the Board of Trustees (BOT) in a Community Football Association

Under a Community Football Association (such as CFA), the Board of Trustees serves as the custodian and guardian of the association’s vision, assets, and constitution. Their functions typically include:

1. Custodians of the Constitution

Safeguard the association’s constitution and core objectives.

Ensure that all executives and members operate in line with the rules and regulations.

Interpret the constitution when disputes arise.

2. Advisory Role

Provide guidance and professional advice to the Executive Committee.

Offer strategic direction for long-term growth and sustainability.

Mediate in leadership or administrative conflicts.

3. Oversight and Accountability

Supervise the activities of the Executive Committee without interfering in day-to-day operations.

Ensure transparency, accountability, and good governance.

Review financial reports and major decisions.

4. Conflict Resolution

Serve as a neutral body to settle disputes between members, executives, coaches, or communities.

Act as the final internal appeal body where necessary.

5 Representation and Legitimacy

Represent the association in legal matters or official engagements when required.

Enhance credibility and public trust in the association.

6. Continuity and Stability

Ensure smooth transition of leadership.

Maintain stability during crises or leadership vacuum.

Important Note:

The Board of Trustees should not interfere with the daily running of football activities, team selection, or competition management. Their role is mainly supervisory, advisory, and protective.
